Bar Exam 3 Thoughts...

Ok, moving on from the drama for a minute here.  What's everyone thinking about the tape itself?  I gotta be honest.  I've only listened once so far, but I am a little disappointed as a whole.  It feels more like a compilation of recent work to me.  I've heard pretty much every song, and whoo kid's constant bullets and crap are just annoying to me.  Joell wasn't on NFWU, Joey's verse was mad weak, and the song just wasn't as good...BBB still has sound quality that changes from artist to artist...and really the only difference (aside from whoo kid) between this and the mix cd I have in my car is the skits, and a couple verses.  Not that these are bad songs, but I feel like I didn't get much new music for my $.

Wasn't all bad though.  Loved having a good quality version of On Fire, and taxi driver.  And liked having Vishis on there.  Also liked the track with Black Milk and Elzhi!

Maybe it was just my expectations, but I had hoped for more from Royce on this one.  I like Royce for 2 reasons.  Storytelling and strong bars.  I just didn't get enough of either here....maybe it'll grow on me over time though.

I just downloaded BE 3 so I havent listened to it yet, but the tracklist is disappointing because so much of the tape was leaked early and then delayed for two months.. doesn't look like there's much on here that's going to be new to me so it will probably get played out in a couple days.  

Whoo-Kid is terrible, and has *been* terrible for the past decade.  His soundboard bullshit with the cannons, guns, battleships, whatever is just old.  If he wasn't 50 Cent's street outlet during 50's ascension in the game, he would have no career because he has no talent.

Most DJs never add anything to mixtapes anymore.  90% of them have no idea how to blend or scratch, or do anything creative for that matter so they charge these MC's ridiculous money to host shit just so they can fuck it up.

Not feelin it at all, i love the angry Royce who is just spittin that fire, this whole mixtape annoyed the hell out of me. I've listened to it twice all the way through and i probably wont again for a while...

exactly!  It seems like he didn't take it seriously like the last 2.  Which with most tapes is fine, but not Bar Exam.  It would be like Joey doing Mood Muzik with a bunch of "Pump It up" type songs

Well on first listen its not on par with the Bar Exam 1 and 2, but I'm really enjoying it. I purposely did not listen to any of the leaks so most of this is new to me which probably makes it more enjoyable.

Overall, preferred the previous two but this is still a good mixtape as they go.

I was pretty happy with it. I didn't go and download all the tracks in advance (SMH at those who did and then complained). Punchlines, shit-talking, jokes, story-telling, what more could you ask for in a mixtape? They're supposed to be entertaining, they're not supposed to be monumental or super-serious.

I wish  No Coming Back from That One was also on there.. but anyhow, i ordered the no DJ version, cuz i honestly think Royce could've worked with anyone else besides Whoo Kid.
